You can only live with detonation for so long and then something has to give as in your case looks like it was the piston skirt.

Just hang in there man. You'll be back on the road before you know it.
No once I dug some more stuff out of a few cylinders, I opted for a remanned longblock right away. I dont need to see anymore lol. And it was both sides at this point. Visibly noticed four messed up pistons just from looking up and six rings hanging or found.

Ya know.... getting a core from a junkyard, and rebuilding that one wouldn't be such a bad idea either..... doesn't come with the warranty... but, you get to build the engine you really want.......

Merry Christmas.

I only read to page 9 so I'm not sure if you ordered an engine yet but I bought a gear head engine and I really like it. They have great customer service and just all around nice people.

Didn't order yet but after researching earlier, gearhead is an atk engine. They are supposed to be one of the best.

Did you order a 360? How's it compare to original?

I should have specified. I got a 3.8 for my 03 impala new motor had way more power doesn't burn oil at all it is the perfect engine I'm really glad I went with them instead of jasper. I've hear a lot of horror stories about jasper also first hand experience with my friends car he got a jasper motor long block put it in his car and there was this god awful noise. Long stop short there was a nut in one of the cylinders never will I order a jasper motor.

What would be a good water pump to order? I figured if I'm replacing I'd get a better than stock one. This is all I looked at so far..
