Just a word of advice. Any part you take off while checking the timing chain that can be replaced with a new part, replace it and you'll thank yourself later.
I agree with hvaughan, and peshewa. Dont start putting on your new parts till you see how bad it is. take belt off, like they said put big ratchet on crank and turn and see if it catches somewhere, they back off and do it again, listen to noise, does it sound like in pan or front cover, The only thing i would add is to drain oil. I would use a big funnel and clean pan so i could pour it thru a paint filter to see if it has metal.
Well its in the process of getting towed now. I can throw a rock at my house from where its sitting but its a free tow so having it taken to a shop. Gonna have them check electrically and if can't find anything of that nature or something as simple as distributor then gonna take it home and inspect and tear down. It could be something minor and most shops will tell you to rebuild because they can't find anything wrong so not letting them pull too much apart. That and will drain my bank account.
Update: shop called and said they can't get the truck to turn over at all. Pulled the starter checked it, everything was fine. Put it back on, tried to get it to turn with breaker bar on crank nut and didn't budge at all. Said he thinks the motor is locked. I told him to pull the plugs and belt and try to turn it. I'm not sure from here. What could cause a motor to seize suddenly, if that is the situation? It wasn't running hot and no abnormal noises.

No abnormal noises?

It's hard to say without having heard the noise, but it reads like you've got a failure in the rotating assembly. Broken wrist pin, rod, or crank perhaps.

Failed something or other on the rotating assembly. Have them try and turn the motor in both directions. If it is locked up solid, replace the whole motor. Don't bother trying to pay them to rebuild it, you will end up spending more than you would if you just bought a crate motor, and had 'em stuff it in.
