No need to be disrespectful. Very good point though, Projector housings will conceal the lighting better.
Not really...pot calling kettle black here sir? Did you forget about your blatently disrespectful comment toward everyone on the road stating your lights are blinding and distracting to other drivers but you like em and are gonna use them anyway? How exactly was that respectful?
I'm not going to get off topic with this but the truth is the truth and your previous comment already said volumes for my argument on the subject... You defeated yourself in one blow there..
I'm not sure you meant it the way you said it but it came off pretty bad. What we are trying to say in case you arent understanding is your setup is a danger to you and other on the road...you might end up blinding someone enough where they end up in an accident or possible swerving into you... and at the very least your gonna **** off a lot of people. I cant really say this without it coming of like a lecture but honestly, Karmas a bitch.... basically the golden rule applies here...and dont put your self in just anothers shoes...put yourself in say an elderly drivers shoes.. Things like blinding light are usually a lot harder on them. A little bit of respect and consideration towards others can go a long way.... So can lack of it...just not the direction you want in life.

Aftermarket HID lights are currently illegal in the states... Mainly because of setups light yours

I dont believe that. But if it makes you feel better, so be it. Just know that you will be responsible if/when someone or a whole family goes off the road and are killed because you thought you look "cool".

Honestly if you want HIDs for your truck just do it right and get the correct housing for them. If you want to keep your stock housing like i did why not just get the High beam HIDs?? Keep a regular set of lights in for your low beams and just do a high beam HID.. Unless your one of them people that keep your high beams on when there is oncoming traffic.. If thats the case then your just endangering other people... I for one have experienced what HID lights are like coming at me with the wrong set up. Thankfully I drive a truck and the ditch wasnt that big and I thank god my pregnant girlfriend wasnt with me or there would have been some heads rolling.

Thanks guys you helped me make my mind up about HID headlights, and that would be a no go. Anybody try them (HID) in the factory driving/fog lamps?

Yes, had 35watt kit in the fogs and they melted the clear lens, gave me an excuse to replace those old yellowed fogs. I use Blazer hid projector fogs that I got from TRS, they are very nice and output a nice spread of light with a fine cutoff.

After considering all of the options, I simply cleaned up my stock housings so they're looking factory fresh again and installed some PIAA Xtreme White lamps behind them. Oncoming traffic isn't blinded by my low beams, and the highs are bright enough that most oncoming drivers pop down to low beam before getting too close even if I move first. The high beams do the trick right nicely, showing me the large ungulates (deer, elk, moose, cattle) on the highway before I'm in danger of kissing one, and even the lows are adequate at speeds under 40MPH or so for that purpose. Though it's a mite twitchy when an Angus is on the road -- they look more like shadows that shouldn't be there no matter how much light you're throwing.

When I get my high zoot bumper on, it'll have both driving and fog lamps in it, with both tied into the factory setup so they come and go appropriately (driving lamps on with high beams, fog lamps off with high beams, both with overrides). I've always rigged up my vehicles that way, making the factory holes as good as can be without being illegal and/or stupid, and aux lights for those times they're needed and not stupid.

You think they're flashing you because they're "haters" rather than because they're dazzled and won't see 5h17 for ten or more seconds after you pass? DIAF. Making other people dead does not make you better. It makes you... uh, well shucks, hi there Mister Moderator, I'm not sayin' it this time. Though it really does need sayin'.

I wouldn't say don't do it at all. It is a very nice upgrade. But in order to appreciate the upgrade, spend the extra cash and do it right, and other drivers will appreciate you too. Spend $300-$350 and get a complete retrofit kit, do it yourself, and the results will be more appealing to you and others. Your gonna spend over $100 for a decent HID kit, so you might as well accompany them with the proper equipment, and benefit from the whole system rather than risking a partial system. HIDs are not a bad thing, but not taking other drivers into consideration is. It is children of today who don't learn from their mistakes and have the whole "I don't care what you think" mindset, and running the HIDs without the consideration of others. Just be smart about it. That's all.

installed HID lights in my fathers 2005 f150. (He has trouble seeing at night). He has the clear untextured glass and the chrome caps over the top of the bulbs.... that setup seems to work pretty well without blinding others... Projectors are the wisest option which I have on the ram with standard bulbs right now.... eventually I might go to HID lights but I'm nervous they will melt my housings. others have had good luck but I've seen a couple people have them melt with the same setup.
Even one of my dads bulbs worked loose and started to melt his housing... I got him the plug in play high/low beam kit and they wired the high /low beams backwards... I dont know what it is with the china stuff always being backwards...My projector housings came wired for sport harness... had to swap two wires.
