needing some transmission help

Default needing some transmission help

i have a 98 ram 2500 with a 5.9L 360 automatic 4x4. will a 4x4 auto trans from a cummins bolt up and work in my truck?

No, bellhousing bolt pattern is different. You need a trans out of a gas engine truck. (v-8 as well, the six banger used an even whimpier trans....) Try and stick with 98 or 99 model year as well, others will require changing some sensors, and possibly governor body assembly as well.

ok would it matter if the engine is out of a 95?

the engine had everything switched from old engine to make it work

There were some differences on flex-plates, and torque converters..... basically, where dodge put the balance weights. (360 is external balance.) I think it changed around 98? So, get a torque converter that matches the year of the flexplate on the engine.

so if i use a 98 flex plate use a converter and trans for 98 and if i use the 95 flex plate use a converter and trans 94-97?

no 94 and 95 used a 46rh hydraulically controlled tranny instead of the electronically controlled 46re on the 96 up...but they changed a bit in 97 or 98 I believe. The computers are totally different before 96

like hey you said they made some small sensor and design changes to things... you may have to swap some stuff from your old unit.
