tranny sliping at highway speed?
TPS is cheap at the parts store, and easy to change. Disconnect battery, unplug sensor, (it's on the drivers side of the Throttle body.), pull two screws, remove old sensor, install new sensor, plug in connector, hook battery back up, start truck. Done. 20 minutes or so.
DONE. yes it was easy. helps ive done it before on my previous 2000. lol. Memories coming back as i looked it up. Although i did see something disturbing. sensor ,on back of throttle body, wires were butt spliced back together. not sure what thats all about. Any way ill see if that fixes the original problem tommorrow as christmas duties start tonight.
I got luck and found the governor pressure solenoid and sensor had failed. I replaced them and got another 10,000 miles out of it before tranny failure and having it rebuilt last week...
TPS, TV cable adjustment (see if it is correct). Would not hurt to change fluid and filter (ATF+4 only) and check band adjusstment. Clean gov press sensor and TC and OD solenoids. Just good PM for these trannys.
So i did ALOT of running around today and not one time did the aforementioned(big word thursday) problem happen. An easy fix that i was really woried about. Thanks to all those involved and DF. Am now looking into the tranny check valve delete. It seems like a necescity.
Cant remember if you said the plenum had been done or not but after I did mine and the requisite parts that go along with that I jumped to 15.4 and I still average that on the hwy every day going to work. The new timing chain I installed made a world of difference as did the SCT provided I keep my foot out of it. About the worst I have seen is in the 11's, and that was very aggressive driving in Dallas.
On a side note since my truck needs paint I'm thinking of going white. I just like the way our trucks look in white.
