If that shift kit is like son ax, the drilling is on the baffle plate and not the vb casting. I picked up an extra plate from a tranny shop junk pile to drill. I have the original plate on a shelf in garage just in case. Installing a kit on an old high milage tranny may stress it, but like anyone else, this is a guess. a definite do for a rebuild though.

Just because someone says "ABC" doesn't make it true just because Joe**** the Ragman, who owns Big Ballz Performance and Restorations, says it is.

Case in point: A long established machine shop in my area told me I made a big mistake pulling the engine from my Ram, and that I was, "opening a big can of worms" by attempting to rebuild the engine. He went on and on about all of the problems I would encounter, how bad these engines are, and that I was looking at a minimum of $3,500.

I did the whole thing for $1,850, which included a few upgrades and new, more stout heads.
Yeah I understand what your saying and normally I'd say the same thing,
But the tranny shop told me to buy my own shift kit for him to install if I wanted one.... He told me what shop carried them in stock....I went to that shop where they stock and sell them and after talking with the owner of that shop who basically said it doesnt do anything for the life of the tranny and is just for performance at cost of harder shifts. I decided not to buy it from him...He was not trying to talk me into anything else... So that theory doesnt really apply here...
