Default Aftermarket Tail light Question

I just got a set of smoked out tail lights for Christmas, I believe this is them

http://www.ebay.com/itm/94-01-DODGE-...ht_5141wt_1396

The brake light section of the housing is usually red on the inside, even with the light being smoked out. That way the brake light still lights up Red. Mine didn't have that and when I apply the brakes it's white. Is it illegal to have white brake lights? I feel like it is since it's not as noticeable as red would be. Can I buy red bulbs? What can I do to fix this problem?

Thanks guys

Well I've never seen white brake lights, but you may want to check your local laws for specific's on that. Someone may confuse them for reverse lights or something....

You could try a red bulb, and compare the new to old light.

But nice lookin lights.

Thanks man, but yeah thats what I was thinking about people mistaking them for reverse lights or who knows what. The last thing I need is someone to slam into my *** because of the lights. I just would of thought it would of came with a red backing or something to indicate it is still a brake light haha

I'd look for a red bulb and see what happens, also don't want the police giving you crap about them.

Don't run white lights. You are gonna need red bulbs, although they look more orange (when looking at the bulb).

I have a smoked setup for my Harley. You need colored bulbs.

Also, you miught want to look up to see if you need yellow for your blinkers.

I wasn't planning on running white lights. I just noticed it when I installed the new tails. Not sure about the blinkers, but by looking at the picture of the taillight looks like i'll be needing them too!

I wouldn't even run them until you get coloured bulbs for them. Liability if someone rearended you would be huge!
