Default Runs Like Crap/Temp Gauge Pegged

I'm starting a new thread to try and get quicker help. I want to fix this tonight. I changed the stat back to a 180* and it started overheating according to the gauge, but truck didn't seem like it. Pulled stat back out and boiled it, it opened late.

Went to AZ and got another stat, installed and fired up to burp the system. The d*mn thing wasn't running for almost an hour, but the gauge is showing 260* and it runs like sh*t.

It's cutting out as soon as the gas is pressed. The wife just left to get another sensor.

Is there a possibility that the ECU went into limp mode cuz of the temp reading? I hope so. The thing ran fine before, minus the SCT deal, which is why I'm doing this.

EDIT: It's not knocking or anything like that and will idle fine.

ALSO I changed the oil and now the oil pressure gauge is reading higher than it has since I've had it. Anything to be concerned there?

Gauge gets its cue from the PCM. If the PCM thinks the engine is that hot, it is going to run the engine lean. (not because it thinks that will help, but, because of the way the programming is.) So, you step on the gas, there isn't enough gas in the larger amount of air, engine stalls. Check that the ECT sensor is plugged in, and that the wires aren't shorted out to anything.

OH. The wife just went to get a new one. Thing is, I didn't even touch it.

Ok, got the new temp sensor in and now it fine. Just burping it now.

What about the oil pressure though? Anything to worry about?

When you changed the oil, did you use a heavier weight than you usually do?

Press gauge is notoriously inaccurate. Mine normally runs a little above half of the upper normal operating range if that makes sense. Name: gauge.jpg

Sorry the pic is so large forgot to shrink it.

On my truck I've always noticed the oil pressure gauge will read a little higher then normal after an oil change. And "normal" for my rig is 40 or a bit higher

Ok, sounds good about the pressure gauge. Mines always been about 25ish at idle and now it's about 35ish. And when I first started it it read about 45, but has come down to the 35 since. At higher rpm it would be about 60ish and still is.

I just wanted to make sure cuz it's never been that high at idle before. I started wondering if it may have gotten clogged somewhere after the sensor took its reading. But, it doesn't knock or tick or any of the other "bad" crap.

UPDATE: I put the new temp sensor in and burped the system and it's all good now. Just so happened that the sensor went out at the same time I opened the system up.
