Arrow Truck fine yesterday and today dead as a doornail

Absolute silence when I turn the key. Hooked up the jumper cables and was able to start the truck after several attempts, however, it was a very rough idle and I could not keep it running without pumping the accelerator. It finally would hold its own until I had my son back it up and then it just died on him. Turned the key and then again there was silence. Checked the battery voltage and it is putting out 12.42 volts so I do not think that is the issue but why will nothing turn over if the battery is fine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

take the posts off the battery.. scrub them and the terminals with a wire brush.. put a layer of Vaseline on them, a coat on the terminals, and put them back on the battery..

it sounds as if you have a bad connection.. I bet there is corrosion on them, huh?

Do the various dash lites come on when you turn the key? Do the gauges test?

My batter did the same thing and with a dead or weak battery it will not stay running. It just won't idle at all. Clean the terminals and ground and if same problem have someone test the battery. It may show 12 volts but it may not hold it under load if it is bad.
