Default PCM Repair Suggestions Wanted

I am going through a 'dealership fix from he._._'. The service manager is now saying that it is the PCM and I am not trusting him, at this point. He wants to send it out to a remanufacture vendor that he works with, but there will be no warranty to me, and a lot of additional cost.

I would rather know if the PCM is truly bad, so I am thinking that a repair would allow me to at least know if the PCM is good or bad BEFORE I pay any money. At least, I am hoping that this would be a part of that repair process.

I have seen many of you post about solopcms.com on here. I did check out their BBB listing - http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florid...mi-fl-92012238 It is okay, but not perfect.

Then I went to Auto Computer Exchange - http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florid...ie-fl-23008253 Simply aweful!

goecm.com - http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-r...ie-tx-90114624

ECM-Outlet - http://www.bbb.org/detroit/business-...y-mi-36013579/ - Really Bad

ECM-to-go, AKA: Automotive Computer Supply also really bad - http://www.bbb.org/houston/business-...n-tx-31003318/

I have already sent a contact form to solopcms, with details on my vehicle and what I want to do, but they have not replied.

Have any of you had really good success having your ECM / PCM repaired?

Get a PCM from a similar year/drivetrain as your van, (I think you will have to stick with 00-01 model year.... same engine trans.) from a junkyard. Swap it with yours. Take the truck for a drive. See if the problem remanifests itself. You will likely have an ABS lite on, as the PCM will be unhappy with having a wrong vin number, but, aside from that, no other problems with the swap. As you are just attempting to determine if the PCM itself is bad, this is most certainly the cheapest route to go.

Stay away from Auto Computer Exchange, their reputation is horrid.

What's the problem to begin with?

Edit: Never mind. How stupid of me to assume a problem related question would be in the original thread.

Service manager took one off of a Jeep on their lot, and said it didn't match perfectly, but code did not come back on. I am not trusting this, because as I explained to him, you have to go about 20 miles to get it to 'hit'.

I wouldn't trust his word for a minute. Maybe if the Angel Gabriel was standing over his shoulder...... I might consider it.... but, it would be a very brief consideration, and I still wouldn't believe him.

If he is so sure that is it, have him swap the PCM, and take you for a ride, and PROVE that is the case. My guess is, he won't do it.

Sorry, no, this was the original thread:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...overdrive.html

I really wanted to make a new thread to hopefully hear from people, on the forums, who have purchased PCM's from online businesses. The BBB has such bad reviews on many. It makes me a little leary of all of them, although I am sure that there are reputable places out there.

After doing some online queries today, one place (directauto.com - Direct Automotive Products) contacted me and said that they would 'repair' the original PCM for about $250 (with shipping costs). They want a $100 deposit to test it out. If there is nothing wrong with it, they will keep the deposit and send it back. But, I have no idea if they are good or bad at this. Their BBB looks good:
http://www.bbb.org/northeast-califor...va-ca-37001792

But, I am hoping to find others who have used them before, here on the forums.

+1 on that! This would probably be the cheapest way to either rule out or confirm the PCM. Heck, I may just buy a couple to test and resell if they test good......
