no spark
I'm having the same problem w/ my 2000 5.2 4X4 When I turn the key on, I can hear the fuel pump come on for a few seconds. When I checked for spark at the plug (removed plug and grounded) I have no spark... Could this be a crank trigger problem?? I have not pulled the cap off yet and I don't know if the coil could be bad (how do you check it ??) Had no problems with the truck until yesterday morn. Was really cold out so I started it up and started scraping the snow and ice off the windows and it just stopped running (ran maybe 15-20 sec.) I started it up again and the same thing happened I was thinking fuel line freeze up, but today was much warmer and it still would'nt start so thats when I checked for spark.. Any help??????? Thanks Larry
Make sure you are getting power to the coil. Without the engine running, you will only have it for about 3 seconds though, so, having an extra set of hands is almost a requirement.
Check and see if you have spark from the coil...... Just stick the spark plug in the end of the coil wire, ground it good, and crank the engine.
