Erm, that hole doesn't go all the way into the trans does it? if it does....
The fluid is the wrong color, implying its also the wrong type. The trans is WAY over-full..... which suggests that someone was trying to mask symptoms....
Replace that feller...... Find another one. That one is scrap metal. I wouldn't even bother going any further. Drain it, drop it, trash it.

I don't know if it goes all the way through... I'd hope not... I opened the boot up just to see how far the stick would go for each gear... I was surprised to see that right there... When you say "feller"... Are you trying to say something like... "Look at dar feller over yonder..." ish.... or is feller... something I'm just not getting :P

So you're saying paper weight...
Also, the fluid should be bright red, no ?

That picture seems very weird to me, i've had the shift boot off on my truck a few times (shift tower bolts loosening) and it didn't have that 'trough' there (kinda looks like there's extra bolt holes at the right side of the picture too). Try draining some of that oil to see what's really going on.

I will do that. I'm looking forward to having two days off coming up here soon... I work retail and I'm always working.. thankfully things are slowing down a bit... anyways... anyone ever been to a "pull a part" location for salvage yard parts? I've visited the pullapart.com website.. and they say that all parts are the same price, no matter the year, make, model, etc.... on the webpage it says a manual transmission 5 spd is only 56 bucks... can this possibly be right... am I reading the "manual" as a service manual by chance... I can't believe a transmission of any kind from a yard would be that cheap...
Anyone had any experience with them?
