so sunday out playing and felt like front shaft went...well when i pulled it out of the hole this is what we found...broken uper and lower ball joints, bent tie rod end snapped axle. So my question is where can a get a upgraded axle for the d44 i am running lockers front and rear and i dont want to continue to snap axles. Also what is the best ball joints to get and what is the best tie rod end. I use my truck as a weekend toy and i play hard.
I just came across this article. Until there is a good find on an axle swap, my primary method to improve the d44 is to reinforce the C.
I just referred to an article that had a number of things to do.
It will not cost $5K to do reinforce the Cs, which is what I was hedging at you....
i was refering to 5k to build a set of dana 70's and dana 60's....part of the reason i want to keep my 44 is cause i got lockers front and rear on my truck now. I worded that wrong. Thanks for the article it gave me ideas to extend the life of these 1/2 ton axles till i save up for the swap...I still have a motor i have to put in lol gotta save as much money as possible for now.

There's probably a hundred people on DF that would buy those D44 lockers/axles, if you swapped in D60's.
yeah i figured i would be able to off load them on here just know i wont get the $1200 i paid but i might be able to recover some of it....Just a tidbit on the motor....its built putting heads on today and then its going to go in this week as well
