So, this is what I'm wondering: What is the determining factor in the band adjustment? Is it the initial amount that you tighten the adjusting screw, or the space left between the band and the drum? I realize that if you don't tighten the screw the right amount, you can't back it out the right amount, but I'm wondering since after doing everything according to spec, and I'm still having issues with the trans slipping, would it be terrible idea to tighten the screw in 1/8 turn increments to see if I can get it to stop slipping? I should note that the truck did not have this particular issue before the band adjustment. All I did was drain the fluid, change the filter and adjust the bands, so I'm not sure that the solenoid would have decided to fail or get clogged at that exact time... unless all the stars decided to line up against me at that exact time.

i hate to disappoint you, but with these transmissions, stars tend to line up quite often, and then one falls and crushes your truck, and your wallet. This happens way more often then it should.
Honestly I have no idea about the band adjustment. One time I changed the fluid in my 4x4, drove it for a week or two noticed that the tranny was slipping, so i adjusted the bands, and it made no difference. It seemed to be that me messing with it that killed it. I need to change the fluid in my 4x2 but I'm so scared to touch it.

That's what I'm starting to fear... My wallet definitely can't take that kind of a hit right now. I think I'm about to learn the difficult lesson that there are certain things I just shouldn't try to mess with... Did you end up needing a full rebuild? How much does something like that cost?

rebuild can vary between 1200-2000+++, depending a lot on how many new parts are added and whether it includes installation and how long of a warranty period you are buying. be aware that remove/replace is not a quick job, but several hours, so its not cheap at all.

back to your problem. which band are you adjusting, the one inside the pan or outside? if inside, its a pita because you have to keep draining the fluid which is expensive as hell. can you put it back like it was?
