If the vents won't switch, you have a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak will also make the truck run funny.

Did you read the link I provided? Does the cruise control work? I bet not. The vacuum line for it is most likely broken(hence, vacuum leak). Check by the servo motor under the battery tray. And trace the line back to where it connects by the intake manifold.

lol.... Do you think an old diesel wont need maintenance too? Plus Do you have any idea of the cost to do this and maintain it? If you can afford to consider that then surely its no skin off your back to just take it to a shop and have the pros fix it ...Everyone wants a Diesel but few actually realize the cost involved in just keeping fuel in the tank... and lets not forget that they are for low end torque and not speed... I want one too although I cant say it really makes sense why...

so i went out to my truck started ripping it apart found 5 inches of vacuum line missing so i fixed it and went and drove it and its bin doing good till today its still doing the thing where it struggles and almost stalls out well driving it . its about 1800 2000 rpm when it starts to stutter its not a all time thing but the truck feels like **** driving and its got no power and every time it starts doing this its making a clunking sound almost sounds like its coming from the tranny but it some times sounds like from the fuel tank its hard to pin point it

so far i have checked my tps and my iac there fine and i have reset my pcm

How did you check the TPS and IAC? And have you removed the TB to check the intake for oil? If the gasket is shot or the pcv valve is no good, it's sucking oil and the cat and o2 are going to suffer.
