Default wiper delay problem

I've searched and haven't been able to come up with an answer. My wipers work fine on low and hi, but they don't budge on delay?

Probably the logic for the motor. I do believe that is part of the wiper motor assembly. Verify that you are getting the right voltages from the switch before replacing it though.

Check the wires running down the steering column if you have a tilt wheel. But I'm going to say the multi function switch needs replace.

its the job of the multifunction switch on the column, to act as a variable resister and send a low voltage level to the CTM. the CTM uses that voltage level to set the delay time between the 12 volt pulses to the low speed winding in the wiper motor.

for example. the least amount of delay time is about a 12 volt signal to the CTM. the longest delay time is .... seems like 5 or 6 volts.

i spent about a month learning all that.
if you need to trace the wiring get the wiring diagrams out of section 8 of the 01 service manual in the FAQ, or your year if you can find it.

you can test the multifunction switch after removing it from the column, or on the column by probing the voltage at the CTM, seems like maybe a green or purple wire, that's why you need the diagrams.

here's some old threads. you can search on wiper delay interrmittent, etc
