Default power steering

Heres my problem. My steering is gone very heavy at idle and if I rev the motor it will get easier to turn. Its not low on psf and it was never ran low on fluid. It all started a few weeks back when I nearly ran down two dam fools who were out walking their dam dog in the dark ( no light, no vis coat, and walking on the wrong side of the road). I had to make a very severe turn to advoid hitting them and it was a few days later than I noticed the steering was a little heavy. Somethimes its perfect and today its was almost like I had no ps. Did I blow out seals in the ps pump or box or what do you guys think.

Have you checked the belt to make sure it is not slipping? Another thing to look at is the belt tensioner.

I did check the belt and tensioner and they are perfect.

More likely the pump than the box...... If you have a bunch of miles on the truck, sure wouldn't hurt to just replace the pump.

I had intermittent heavy steering for a while maybe a month or so, then one day, boom, my seal blew between the pulley and the pump, psf everywhere, not to mention no power steering. Picked a different one up at the jy for $35 and so far so good.

Be careful with the reman'd ps pumps. I tried one and ended up with the same issue you are describing. I went with a new pump from PSC and couldn't be happier.
