Default Alternator Upgrade / Fuse Questions.

hey guys. providing my tax returns get deposited tomorrow. im going to be picking up my new plow, and would like to upgrade my Alt as well. i currently have a 117a alt, and would like to bump it up to the 136a alt so it sits better with my newly installed dual batteries.

my question is, and i did search, and even looked in the 2001 ram service manual.

what size alt fuse is required to run the 136a alt? i currently have a 140a fuse in there, and the service manual showed a 140a fuse as well, but didnt specify what alt it was for.

thanks in advance guys!

You'll be good with a 140 amp fuse.

Fuses are rated by amps and time. The 140 amp fuse will withstand 140 amps of current momentarily then blow if it remains. If you have the fuse number (the letters that are on it) I could check the time/current charts I have. But at any rate, the time duration will be shorter than the time neccessary to protect the alternator.

In layman's terms, J415 is absolutely correct! You are good to go!
