Default Rear seat Sub

I have been reading from all the searching that ive done but i have yet to find any dimension on a under rear bench subwoofer box. I read the thread about the stealth box for the middle seat up front but im looking to build a box for underneath my rear seat. I know they have them on Ebay but i think i could make one for less, i just dont have the dimensions.

thanks, Oliver

Yeah you could prolly make one cheaper, and i know from experience you could take advantage of alot of space they waste to have some more air space for your subs, but it would be a pita. The rear floor isn't flat and it would be alot of shallow angles. I keep wanting to build one cause mine is really too small for my 12's but i just cant force myself into the headache. I'm not sure what kind you're looking at but ive got the 2 12 forward firing box in mine. I actally had to add on to the face just so my subs would fit. Let me know what measurements you need and ill measure when i get home. When you lift your back seat up and i give you the dimensions you'll see what i mean about the space they could've used.

I built mine from scratch using cardboard and really there's no other way. It took me four hours or so but I used every inch down there. I curved the bottom boards and put cut out for the handles. I'll post pictures around 3 today. I would go go 12" subs if I did it again.

you just used the cardboard as a template right?... I looked into this but after measuring I discovered any box made to fit in that space would perform very poorly unless it was for a solobaric sub or an 8" sub maybe. (larger subs require larger volume boxes or they sound terrible).. The volume is just too small and it would be very shallow... I settled on a single 10" box that lines up with my center console and is wedged to sits perfectly between the backseat and against the back of the console.

I have two ten inch kickers and they sound great IMO. Much better than my friends who turn their amp to 11. I literally used every cupic inch under the seat. I can email someone pictures if they want to post them for me or I'll do it later

Well there are lots of box calculators to help determine volume of odd shaped boxes and you can get the required subs volume for each sub from manufactures websites... some will do much better than others in smaller boxes... They tend to hit higher and lack lower base response in smaller boxes... sometimes depending on music choice thats good...But they also are less effiecient that way and usually require more power pushing them which can also distort them.
I have orion 12" s I wanted to use but the required box volume was waaay too much... I wanted a backseat more.. I have the matching orion 8's in my vette in a small box and they sound great.

So did you use cardboard as a template? what did you build the box from?

Okay, Thanks for the advice. I'll start to mark it up with cardboard and see what im getting. I have also tossed around the idea of putting a sub in place of the middle front seat but im not sure how that would workout because i really like to use it as an armrest.

There was a thread I found (and lost) that was the install guide for a JL sub box that replaced the console seat but you still attached the storage bin to the top. I think that I'm going to build my own box to replace that seat for a single 10 and will make sure that I can keep the storage compartment..If you are good at building it shouldn't be hard at all to do.

I made it out of plywood and lots of silicone sealant. It took forever but I am glad I did it and it takes up no useable space (to me). I would much rather have it under my backseat than in my middle seat. Well heres the pictures and sorry for the delay
