Make sure you don't have a situation like this. That's the main harness plug to the tranny.

just picked up a volt meter today so i can test the connections and so forth. the biggest mystery to me still is my battery issue. like i said when i start my truck the volt gauge (in the truck) is saying about 11 volts which is a little lower than normal. it will stay there until i actually start driving. ive replaced the alt. twice, new battery, new pcm. could the codes im getting from the tranny be causing this. the truck wont die unless i drive it for aboout 5 miles. and even after the battery gauge first drops to nothing i can shut off my truck and restart it with no issue....until i start driving. im still gonna try another battery but im just curious to know if anybody has had these problems at the same time. both my issues started at the same exact time.

Sounds like something is triggering the ASD. May hook voltmeter to ASD and drive and see if it is shutting off.

Automatic Shutdown Relay =ASD . It's located under the PDC cover next to the battery.

When shopping for a PCM, I look not at the price as the determining factor of where to purchase it. Ones to stay away from are the companies that show up on "Rip-Off.com". You will see there are many reports of a so-called cheap company to get PCM's from. They rebuild with sub-standard components and many are faulty from this company on arrival. They have no support and do not honor their low time warranty. Stay away from this company. A company that will talk to you in great detail on the phone and gives you a lifetime warranty providing you return the core to them with 2 weeks can be found at... (allcomputerresources.com)

allcomputerresources.com has a good supply of well remanufactured PCM's and TCM's. They carry a lifetime warranty, which says a lot these days. They will disguss problems on the phone with you. It is possible that your PCM is defective. Also, your TCM can be damaged by a faulty PCM. If something got shorted in the PCM, then that can ruin or damage your TCM too. Since the supply voltages come from the PCM for your TCM, one can cause problems with the other. Most major auto parts stores can test your alternator if you take it off and take it in to them, or drive the truck there and they will test it on your vehicle. 11 volts is way too low whether the vehicle is running or not running. If you charge your battery, the voltage should be near 13 volts fresh off the charger and I have seen slightly above 13 volts immediately after an overnight charge at lower amp settings. With the vehicle running, you should see between 13.8 to 14.3 volts as a normal range. If you crank it a lot to get it started you may even see up to 15 volts until the battery level charges a little bit. However it should not stay up at 15 volts for very long before dropping back to the normal range above. I eliminated my alternator as a possible problem by removing it off the Dodge Caravan and having AutoZone test it for me. If voltages are low, it can cause shifting problems also. Welcome to the wonderful world of electronic controlled everything in vehicles today with that OBDII or OBDIII Systems.
