Default governor pressure solenoid/battery gauge drop

Ok so here's my issue. Driving home I noticed my battery gauge drop down to 8 and stay. I got off the highway then all of a sudden it was acting like what was described as a pressure solenoid issue. I replaced both the battery and alt. Still have both issues I started with. Is there any relation between the two. I have an 01 sport with the 5.2.

You need to have the charging system checked. Could be defective alternator. But also could be the regulator, which is in the PCM, for some unknown reason. Check all your ground wire's too.

I should have mentioned before. My truck will start right up no problem. No dimming lights or anything and the volts wont drop until I put it in drive and step on the gas. When I do hit the gas it starts out like its in 3rda gear but reverse is tip top. I've already checked out what might cause that im just wondering if there could be a connewotion between the two. Maybe the bad pressure solenoid causing the volt drop

I think if the solenoid was drawing that much power, you would see smoke and flames rolling out from under the truck. More likely I think is, when you put it gear, the motor shifts a bit on it's mounts, and pulls a ground loose.

if you dont mind, then would share roughly what cost of the new pcm? Is it really a new one or a remanned one? I'm asking b/c I've come across a wide range of numbers. Feel free to PM if you like. thanks and glad you got your resolution...for the most part.

The only place that could get one for me was NAPA auto parts for $284 with the old one. The dealer was $800 and they can't even order one. Also NAPA is a reman pcm but the dealer was new. Hope that helps you.

Did you look up the codes and see what they are?
