That does suck. But you need to bring it to a reputable tranny shop, that has a good scanner or the equipment to check the pressure's properly. Or just replace the thing yourself and see what it does.

how do i go about checking the pressures myself?

Set of gauges....one needs to read up to 300 psi and the other 150 psi. Test ports on beth sides of tranny. FSM will provide the values you need.

OR

Have a tranny shop connect a scanner that can read it.

Found the problem... Mechanical Failure. Any idea what i can get a used trans for?

What's the mechanical failure?

As for the used tranny, it depends on your area and what's available.

Yeah, like Stewie said - what is the mechaniacal failure? That is pretty vague. Maybe some more info and we can help. Changing a known failure for an unknown quality at whatever price may not be a good first step.

Got photos of what is wrong?

trans goes into limp mode after driving it for longer than 20 min or so. theres no check engine light or tranny codes. ive taken it to 2 different transmission shop and they told me the same thing. im thinking its just its time to die, afterall its got 172000 on it.

Drop the pan, see what you find. If it looks ugly....... take it from there. If there isn't obvious signs of mechanical failure in the pan, try just changing fluid/filter, and cleaning the governor pressure sensor and solenoid.
