Rock Auto has this complete kit for $72. Plus shipping of course. But there is also a thread in the 2nd Gen general discussion area that contains discount codes.

Can anyone come up wiith a diagram? I have the basic diagram like from the link above and the Haynes manual. But the fork has a bend in it and I'm not sure which way it goes? I put it back together and no 4x4 and no lights. So I'm guessing i hooked something up wrong or I put the fork on backwards. If I put the fork on backwords wouldn't the lights still come on?

The fork may not allow the actuator to travel all the way, if it's in wrong. Verify you have vacuum at the right spots, and if that's ok, take it back apart, and flip the fork over.

would I check vacuum just by unplugging and making sure I get the whistle and feeling it? I dont have too many fancy gauges to do something like this. Its too cold tonight (yes even here in Florida it gets cold every now and then) but I need to get this truck back on the road!

I think our definitions of "cold" are prolly somewhat different. It's a whopping 14 degrees here. And no, that is NOT centigrade......

yeah, just start the truck, leave it in park, or neutral (set parking brake), and see where your vacuum is, should be the outboard port, you can just use your finger to test for vacuum. (and make sure you are only getting vacuum on ONE port.) If that's cool, shift the t-case into 4Hi, and check where your vacuum is not. Should be on the inboard port.

Did you lube things up nicely before you put it all together? Does the collar slide smoothly? Axles line up nice? There are some bushings in there that wear out, and can cause some interesting problems.

i think the fork bends toward the center of the truck. also notice the collar on the axle shaft and how it slides back and forth. its critical that the fork ears slide into the groove on the collar.

you should put the front end up on jack stands, and as you shift the t-case (with engine running and vac pulling). then you can spin the passenger side tire. if either the front drive shaft turns, or the drivers side tire spins forward or backward, then the cad in engaged. if nothing else spins then its not engages.

for us Florida boys anything below 75 is cold, lol...I don't know what it is right now but it's supposed to be low 30s hi 20s tonight.

Yes I lubed everything up and the shaft seemed to move in and out nicely I think I put the fork in backwards, hopefully I'll get a chance to get at it tomorrow afternoon. Those "e clips" are a major pain in the butt, i had to take it back apart once already when I forgot to put the new seal on it. So hopefully tomorrow night I can have it going again!
