Alright guys, just wanted to give an update and ask another question.
Today the weather was nice so I was able to get back to work as I await my delivery from auto zone. I flushed the cooling system and radiator today then decided to give the engine a nice bath as everything was disgusing.
As I was cleaning, the fresh anti freeze that I added to the engine started pouring out of what looks like a freeze plug to the right of the water pump. I noticed that there is another one of these plugs to the left of the water pump.
So I just was wondering if there are freeze plugs, both of them? Obviously I will be replacing the leaking one, do you think I should also replace the one on the left side that is not leaking and are there any more in there while I have everything ripped off the front of the motor?

Thanks Guys, I hope everything works well when put back together.

Freeze plugs are in the block. Can you post up a photo?

I probably can, just don't know how. I will try to figure it out. These are on the block opposite the radiator a little bit lower then the water pump on the left and the right.

Looks like a freeze plug to me. If it's leaking then it's time for a new one, probably best to do the other side too.

I've not had to install one so I don't know the exact procedure, but I thinking you might need to drain the coolant, knock out the old ones, and punch in the new ones.

Someone will clarify though!

I know how to do the freeze plugs, if that's what they are. I did one last week under the truck.

That's a freeze plug. Betting all of them are corroded from the inside out.

Is there anywhere I can get an accurate diagram showing me ALL of the freeze plugs on my engine? I have searched this site and the internet and nobody is in agreement even about the sizes of the freezeplugs. I searched in the 2001 FSM but couldn't find any images.

Thanks if somebody might know of one.

So today was the big day to fill the cooling system and fire the truck up. While reconnecting the battery after filling the system I heard a dreaded "drip, drip, drip". I never felt so let down.
The timing cover gasket must be the source of another leak. I am so upset to have to rip everything apart again to replace that gasket.
So my question is, is there any possibilty that a "stop leak" would be able to seal that gasket? Would any of you attempt that before ripping everything apart again and replacing the timing gasket?
Advice please. I feel like jumping off of a bridge.
Thanks

I would be hesitant to add anyting like stop-leak. It tends to gum up heater cores and other things as well. May try to jsut tighten all the bolts around pump and timeing cover gasket. Maybe something isn't as tight as it should be.
