So after lunch and a well deserved beer, I finally got everything off. Never did get that bracket off, just bent it out of the way.
After getting the alt, ac comp, and mounting bracket out of the way I can clearly get at the bypass hose, which was destroyed!
Does anyone know the measurement on that hose or will autozone know exactly what hose it is?
I don't think I'm going to get involved in the timing cover....although it looks like I'm so close but it still seems a little intimidating.
Day one done. Next clean everything nicely and remove water pump and thermostat and the dreaded bypass hose!

They should have one that fits your truck...you don't have to tell them the size, although I believe it's 5in long and the inside diameter is something like 0.75in. It looks bigger on the outside cuz the walls are real thick. And you don't have to do the timing cover gasket, I didn't. But sometimes when u remove the water pump it disturbs the gasket causing a leak...but mine was fine after I did the pump.

I found what I needed at Autozone. The website makes it pretty easy once you have your vehicle entered.

So I ordered all new hoses, thermostat housing, bypass tube w/ oring.

I already bought water pump, thermostat and gasket, fan clutch.

Can anyone think of anything I might be forgetting. There is always something even after I check my list four times.

Thanks

just an fyi your ac compressor is turned on and being used when you turn on the defroster setting... This is done in many vehicles to help remove moisture I'm told.

I had te same thing happen to the small last month. Make sure to check the hose and make sure there are no kinks when installed. The one I got was a tad bit to long so I had to cut it down a bit so there were no kinks in the hose.

If your new pump doesn't come with an inlet tube and your old ones rusted/banged up get a new one of those.

If your truck has the original spring clamps on the radiator hoses, they might not hold down enough on the new radiator hoses, causing a leak. Happened to me on the lower rad hose at the water pump end... If you still have original clamps, replace 'em with band clamps (the ones that screw tight).

You might as well test the t-stat before you put it in too. Place it in boiling water and make sure it opens up.

If you haven't changed your coolant in a while get new anti-freeze as well.

I just had to replace my water pump. Napa sells a new, not remanufactured pump for about 57 dollars. Comes with a new pulley already pressed on the pump, new steel inlet tube, and the rubber O-ring. And a WP gasket. Lifetime warranty too. Seemed like a pretty good deal. Looked so purdy on the front of my truck, I hated to put the fan back on and cover it up.

I thought about it, but did not. Was ready to get back on the road since I had to drive the 94 project Z71 w/ no insurance to work friday 30 miles one way. Plus I need to spend the least amount of money possible because I need new tires pretty bad and tire prices seem to have really gone up since the last time I bought some.
