The mitchell1 manual online is an excellent repair manual with different options on pricing.....the valve body must be removed to replace the tcc/od solenoid assembly ...However it is very uncommon to have a bad tcc solenoid..Are you 100% sure its faulty?

If your just replacing the TCC/OD Solenoid Assembly then you don't have to drop the valve body, if your replacing the solenoid itself then you have to drop the valve body. Which are you replacing?

The TCC/OD Solenoid Assembly is what connect's to the 8 PIN Connector on the outside of the transmission above the neutral safety switch.

usually comes as a set, on a bracket, with the o/d solenoid as well...... I have heard rumors that you don't have to drop the v/b to change these......

Yup, if your just changing out the assembly you don't have to drop the valve body, there is a plate by the governor solenoid (I think) you have to drop lose to get to the screws that hold the bracket in place, and on the drive side there is a piece (name?) that bolts to the side of the valve body, you remove that piece, when you do a spring will shoot out the side at you, once the piece is off a large spring will fall out and then a cup like thingy will fall down, and walla there is the 8 pin connector.

Really it should take about 15-20 minutes change out the assembly once you've gotten to that point. Do be CAREFUL the clips that hold the connector's to the governor solenoid break very easy. Ask me how I know.....

I bought my assembly from the dealer, no tcc/od solenoid included.
