Default New memeber with some problems

Hi, I am a new member. I just picked up a 2000 1500 with 100,000 miles on it for use as a work truck. It is an extended cab. Runs and shifts great. Only problem is the harsh ride, I feel like I need a kidney belt in this thing when i hit the smallest bumps, Could it be the tires? How do I tell if it needs shocks, would they fix this issue? Also, When I hit the brakes, It feels very jumpy also. What could that be? It's a great work truck but these little things need to be addressed. I do not know what the tire pressure is, I should check. Any help is appreciated. It feels like a ride of a 3500 series truck!

I don't know what you were driving before....but don't forget you are driving a truck - they aren't known for a Cadillac ride. The brake problem could be warped rotors, does it surge and shake the steering wheel side to side when stopping? If so its probably the front rotors. I just replaced mine at 60000. NAPA has new rotors for about $32 apiece, and pads for $27. Do it yourself, it's not hard to do and a local shop wanted $400 to do what I did in 2 hours and $90 in parts. I keep my tires at 40psi. To test your shocks - bounce each corner of the truck as hard as you can by pushing down on it, when you let go it should settle immediately. If it keeps bouncing your shocks are bad. Hope this helps.

I had a 2001 dodge ram sport that was taken back as a lemon by chrysler. I just got rid of my F150 king ranch because I needed a work truck. I am reading alot of things on here about death wobble, I wonder if my truck classifies for this. It bounces pretty hard when hitting bumps.

it's the 4x4's that have the death wobble and it is fixed by putting maximum caster on the alignment.

sounds like you just need new shocks...

How long to put it on? Does it seem sturdy?

I've got a 2001 2WD SB SC W/V6. I'm starting to wonder if they just didn't use the same springs as a V8 (THOUGH YOU'D THINK IT WOULD SIT HIGHER) I've got about 35K miles on it. No steering play, tracks straight. I weigh 250 and I can't push the front fender down more than 1" much less bounce it. I was gonna get new shocks but if it's sprung this hard I can't see what difference it would make. The truck transfers every little bump I hit like I'm running over a 4X4 (PIECE O WOOD)
