Default please help! tranny? tcase?

Okay so here's whats happing. 2 days ago i backed my truck out of the driveway, shifted it into drive and drove about 20-30 feet then i heard a big slam as if something was trying to shift.....next day i leave work for lunch, same thing happened, started it, drove about 30 feet and heard the same thing....when i left work that day it didnt do it so its an intermittent problem....my tranny shifts fine though. it also did it in reverse once. tranny fluid is filled and clean. trans was replaced at 100k , now I'm at 126k.

any ideas? thanks

Drop the rear drive shaft, pull the tailhousing off the t-case. should be right there behind the bearing. If it isn't.... need to fix that.

Aside from that... check u-joints, and bearings in the rear. (just jack it up and spin things, see how it feels.)

ill have to check when i get some time.

anyway....after it has done it once, it wont do it again until the truck sits. it sounds like the front axle is trying to engage and then slams, but i tested out my 4wd and it shifts in and out perfect. btw we just rebuilt the front end 4 months ago.

Check your vac lines. Sounds to me like it's trying to engage 4wd. I'd also check the TC linkage. But this is where I'd start looking. http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/repair/..._engagment.htm
