Default 1995 ram engine cuts off , help !

***Resolved*** > had a crack sparg plug -all running good now.

i have the 1995 dodge ram 1500 5.2 v8 2 wheel drive. (240.000miles)

problems:

1.
engine is not running round ,it cuts off, every 6-8 sec.
like there something wrong with the sparg plugs or something else.

2.
at 40-to-70 miles per hour ,and i go on the freeway and the truck let say it goes with 65mph
and if i press just a little the gas pedal the truck starts shacking ,for some reason, but if i press from the first harder on the gas pedal then i dont notice that shacking anymore.

what i have changed:

-spark plug wires
-distributor cap and rotor
-air control valve
-valve cover air breeder (driver side)
-sparg plugs (i check them and the look like new,so not changed)
-oil and oil filter
-air filter

now about a week ago i did the smoke emission for california and it passed.
also no check engine light at dash board! and if i turn key 5 times i get 5 blinking lights and again 5 blinking lights and then it stops,so i guess 55 is for end testing.

i have talk to few people and they said that it could be :
-Crankshaft Position Sensor
or
-Ignition Distributor the electronic part inside .

now it pass smog the emission and the engine does not run really good,so
i dont know for sure what and where is the problem.

any ideas what to look next ?

thank you very much! for your help!.

regards,
bosanci28

Although I agree with the crank sensor problem, read this. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html

so should i attempt to change that crank sensor or ...

also is there a way to check if the sensor is okay?

that tread is for "Plenum Gasket Replacement" i am reading that also,

my engine was rebuild about about 4-5 years ago,but i guess he change the gasket , thats all at the intake plenum.

It is not very easy to change due to location of distributor. Do not loosen and turn disty. Just remove cap and make sure that when you go back together you get the rotor on correctly.

Oops. I keep getting it backwards.

Crank sensor is on back of block at bell housing, pass side. The cam sensor is in the disty....

the TPS i have tested based on this info here:
http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/chr...or_dodge_1.php
and come out okay, at .679 v (recommended between .5 to .9 Volts DC )

as for the fuel filter that will be in the fuel tank with the pomp ? one unit?
because if yes, then the pomp was replace 4-5 years ago when the engine was rebuild.

thanks

Cant hurt to get an inexpensive fuel pressure tester and check it. You can also do a flow test depending on what tester you purchase.

yap,did the fuel test also,
and got about 42 psi.

and after turned the engine off ,the manual say that for at least 5 min the pressure should stay above 24 psi, witch i left it for about 10 minutes, and it stay at 36 psi .

so that means fuel pressure is okay.

thanks
