No, it is not normal. And since the plenum is not a moving part...."break in" should not be aprt of their discussion. I bet they jacked the firing order or fuel sync....just my guess....

I would make sure they set the fuel sync correctly. The position of the distributor controls injector timing.

+1 on fuel synch. If disty was moved, fuel synch is off.

If they disconnected the battery the PCM would need a bit of miles put on it to re-learn how to run the motor. If it still runs wrong after a hundred miles or two, start worrying.
