I've read different accounts of removal of the speed sensor. Some cite that it will come right out w/o opening the diff. cover and some having to open the diff cover. Take a gander at the FSM, which is free to download from the FAQ/DIY subforum here. Additionally, get yourself a Haynes manual anyways.

Otherwise, mantisman should comment on this directly having done the replacement.

I'd probably check the dealer first on the part and if not too expensive get that one.

Mine was a simple take the screw out that mounts the brake line on the sensor, then take out the bolt holding the sensor on the diff. Replace sensor on connector. (cut some of the zip ties holding the harness on the frame because Summit's connector is pointed to the pass side instead of the drivers side and stretch the harness to the other side) Replace both bolts and everything works again and all warning lights go off. Also, remember to disco the neg cable from the battery. It was a 5 minute job, but we ave no rust issues in Az, which is the only thing I can imagine would cause a removal issue.

Well decided to go ahead and change out the sensor just now. I sprayed some wd-40 on it then went and got the part came home. Unhooked the battery. The old one came right out, new one went right in. Well this still didnt fix the problem. I checked the brake fluid it was full. I checked the abs fuse it was fine. What should I do now? Btw it is RWAL.

Brake and ABS light still on? Time to read codes, and see what the abs is whining about. Unfortunately, have to go to a shop that can do it. Parts stores can't/won't read ABS codes.

well i noticed when changing mine that the harness that plugs into the sesor is cracked in half and I can see two wires. Thinking I need to get a new end piece of the harnes and wire it up and try that. but wondering how to get one of those... maybe see if a junk yard will cut one off for me?

Junk yard, or, see if the parts store can order you one.... dealer certainly can, but, they will want serious money for it. (15 bucks or more.)
