Cruising is usually around 40psi, its been fluctuating way more than usual
I don't know what my problem is lately but I've been paranoid about everything.

That much fluctuation probably isn't normal, wouldn't hurt to put a mechanical gauge to see what kind of pressure your getting.

Mine read about the same at idle and higher revs. Been like that for about 1 ½ years and 30,000 miles. Ive had no problems.

What weight oil? Any additives? How long since it was changed? How far up the dipstick?

If you're near or past due for an oil change, that's a pretty normal indication. If the engine's running hot, that's pretty normal. If you're running 5W30, that's close to normal. And so on...

Mine used to do that, your engine will make more oil pressure when it revs so I would check it and if it's fine not worry about it

Okay... I second Stewie's motion. Show it to a mechanical pressure gauge to see what it's really doing. If it's not swinging so much on the mechanical gauge then it's going to be the sending unit at fault. If it is swinging, then the sender is okay and you might want to just live with it. It won't hurt anything as long as it doesn't go too low for too long. "Too low" is like 10PSI or less, BTW.

Thanks for reassurance, to my knowledge it hasnt had a plenum repair so I wasnt sure if it was a tell tell sign or not, oil smells good, nice caramel color.

Some more if you need more convincing...

My 01 1500 V6 2wd did this exact same thing for my father and I for over 150K miles, never had an issue with pressure.

I just got a 99 318 4x4 and it does it the same way just not as high on the gauge.

I remember reading plenty of threads on how the factory gauges can be screwy sometimes and you shouldn't trust me ALL the time, unless they are showing drastic temps.

To be sure, check with a mechanical gauge as Stewie suggested.
