last night when I was out in my truck,my truck hesitated to move for about 20 seconds.it made a lound sound 2 times also before it went normal again.The sound sounded like if you took you fist and slammed it on the hood of the truck 2 times.Im not sure whats going on but I did a full tune up on my truck in october with new plugs wires,cap and rotor, and pvc valve new battery and surp belt also.anyone have any clue to what may be going on?my truck hasnt done this since october since i tuned it up so i thought i had the problem fixed but i guess not.

 

Was it backfiring? Might wanna check fuel pressure, also check if your cat is getting clogged. Have you fixed the plenum yet?

 

well my buddy was with me and he said it sounded like it back fired 2 times but it didnt sound that way to me.but it did it so fast it was hard to tell.guess i have some things to check.

 

Were you stepping HARD on the gas, or just easing into it?

 

I was just easing into it I just pulled out of a store parking lot onto the street and was going no faster than 15 to 20 mph.And the other time it did this I was going even slower maybe 5 to 10 mph.what does this mean?I drove the truck today and it didnt do anything and like I said the last time it did this was back in october.

 

I would check TPS then as well......

 

ok i havent been on here since my last post how do I check the tps and what does it look like im not sure what it is a pic would help?.Anyway my truck did the same thing last night i notice evertime my truck hesitated to move its right after I start the truck cold.again I left the same store and my truck hesitated to moved and shook and made a popping sound 2 times from the engine does that seem like a back fire? I was going 20 to 25 mph.after the truck engine made the popping sound 2 times the truck drove fine.someone told me also it could be the timming?im not sure about that one though.

 

Drivers side of the throttle body. three wires, one is 5 volt reference, one is a ground, the other is signal to pcm. You wanna see what the signal wire is doing. Use an Analog meter...... with key on, engine off, should see less than one volt throttle closed, and it should progress smoothly up to greater than 3.5 volts at wide open. If the needle jumps around on the meter, replace the TPS.
