Default 97 Dodge ram Help!

I picked up a 97 dodge ram 1500 today for 1500...BUT there is one issue. For some reason when you start it itll stall seconds later but if you hold the pedal down for like 10 seconds itll stay running fine and will drive fine till you turn it off again then i have to do the same thing again. Ive also noticed if you drop it into gear before it dies itll stay running. But does anyone have ANY idea what it could be? battery and alternator are fine. It has the v6 magnum auto 194k PLEASE HELP ME

I would suspect IAC and/or TPS.

I'm having the same problem. The post title is "Engine wont start cold". Check that out for some answers. Good luck and if you come across anything could you let me know?

While checking the TPS it is a good idea to check and clean IAC as well. Both parts are on the TB. Doing one without checking the other may be wasted time.

Same place they are on the V-8's..... IAC is on the back side of the throttle body, TPS is on the drivers side.

Go to the FAQ/DIY section. Download the service manual for your year. Tells you how to test and clean IAC and TPS. Do NOT turn or twist pintle on IAC! Damages it!

They are located on the throttle body.
