Go to the Garage link in the black bar at the top of the page, click it. At the very bottom of the first Garage page is "Fuel Economy Chart", and to the right is "See the MPG Summary". Hit that. You will find that leads to user-inputted fuel economy reports by vehicle. "Dodge Ram 1500" is at the top of the list, go there. (Most of that is just if you want to check a different Chrysler vehicle; I've put a link below for readers of this sub-forum).

When you poke around, be sure to check the column "# of tanks", and only look at those that have a few in there. There are lots of 1-tank reports but they are basically useless.

Saving everyone some time:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/garage....ame=Ram%201500

Maybe saving even more time (as of 22May12):
36 tanks 13.06
15 tanks 11.92
12 tanks 13.66
10 tanks 12.90
6 tanks 8.45
5 tanks 11.35
4 tanks 11.51
4 tanks 14.49
Good find...
but

Ok I'm going to stereotype a bit here but many (CERTIANLY NOT ALL) of the people that start or chime in to mpg threads complaining about getting only 8-9 mpg are younger more aggressive drivers Some even have the trucks exhaust hacked up or oversized tires with weak gears...that they like to push to the limits dumping gas down the exhaust to show off at stop lights and such because someone else was nearby with a badass looking truck or car and they need to prove something to themselves...(low self estem?) I see and deal with these people almost every day.

They are not the same type of people to put actual time and energy into recording actual tank mpg values and posting them here or in the thread mentioned above.... The people that post in that thread are mostly either very cautious, observant, analytical (like engineers) or possibly a bit OCD type....

Some of the people that comment on poor mpg just have a truck thats not running right and needs attention like plenum gasket / tuneup or a worn out engine..... but again they are not really norm for the base in any actual mpg poll with real data...especially since many use the dumb mpg computer that that doesnt even give accurate readings..

I'm 58, and don't drive like the granpa that I am, and not like a kid either. I got 11 mpg on my Ram when i last checked it and was disappointed, But I have come to accpet it as close to normal. I previousl got 16 on mY Yota (4X4 with 5sp manual and 275,000 on the clock). I did some work on it and got it to get 19.5. But I did more than polish the bitterfly. It included change cat, plugs, one coil pack, and adjust valves. But is is not as big a brick. I plan to do more to my Ram, but if I can squeeze a couple more mpg (1-2) I will be satisifed. Expecting great mileage is unrealistic. Learning to live within its abilities - priceless.

sounds like you nailed most of it on the head. i never complain to much about my gas mileage since i do drive a bit aggressively to show off but it can be fun. so far driving the ram charger is saving me about $150 a month. i think if i could keep my ramcharger for the hiway and drove my 81 in town i might almost be able to save $200 a month.
here where i keep track of my gas mileage.

I generally don't worry about gas mileage to much. We all drive trucks if we wanted the best mileage possible, drive a scooter. I was more interested in poor mileage being attributed to other factors besides driving habits an "driving a brick". And for the record I would much rather get 8-9 mpg in my dodge then 28-29 in a tiny lil car.
Oh an to augiedoggy I currently have 35's considered going down to 33's.

then yes the 35's are costing you power and mpg with 4.10 gears its not all that much but still enought that you would notice the step down to 33" tires... plus its a lot easier on your transmission..
I have the baest of both worlds myself... I drive the truck when I have to and drive my tiny little 1200lb roadster or my bike when I dont want to blow an extra $20 a day... of course I really lucked out with my employer giving me a company car and paying for all the maintenance and personal gas as a perk...

GDstock I did more than just open and polish the throttlebody.... I did install a new magnaflow exhaust and stainless headers as well as a complete tuneup but that was a given and since I got lousy mileage with my old gutted magnaflow cat and pacesetter headers I didnt really include that as a new mod... I suppose not having a gutted cat helped net me some power since I noticed more low end after just doing that...I put almost 300miles in the new injectors before I tweaked the fuel sync and it wasnt until I did that change as well as go back to a 195 stat from a 180 after lots of advice to do so that I noticed the big mpg increase...

I think people should just realize its a truck and not expect miracles. I see between 9 and 13mpg depending how I drive. Over the last couple fill ups I have gotten 13.1 on the first 10.9 on the second 12.3 on the third and yesterday I refilled it again and got 13.6 and that was being as careful as I could to get good mileage

I get 8 to 9 mpg on my RV. Cost of gas means it is parked out back and not on the road. I probably need to look for a diff to swap - that thing was built when speed limit was 55 and regearing would help, but I am a novice in that area. It has a 454 with an auto trans, but I know I won't get 18 out of it even with a change. Gotta conside what it is and what it is for, as what you want to do!

$3.80 a gallon? Wow. It must be nice. Up here gas is $1.26 per liter or $4.78 per US gallon for regular. Super is $1.40/L or $5.32 per US gallon. Is the price difference between regular and premium gas the same in Canada as it is in the US? Keep in mind the exchange rate on the dollar is pretty close to par (thank you Alberta tar sands).

you should find a better gas station to get your gas from. sound like you are buying gas at 7-11 since there is a $0.14 difference in price between 87 and 91. i buy all my gas at shell and there is only a $0.10 difference between 81 and 91. that $0.04 is about $4-$5 per tank for me.
