And IH, I am serious. There's really nothing more than granny driving that makes a big difference. I get phenomenal mileage compared to most Dodge owners and it is only because I seriously drive so slow, I'm worried someone's going to take a pot shot at me sometime. My last tank was a little over 19 mpg, but understand, that is NEVER driving over 55 mph and almost all open highway driving with no stoplights and I take 20-25 seconds to speed up to 45-50 mph, which is what I normally drive. These trucks are made for working and gas mileage was not a major concern when this 2nd gen was engineered. The only other thing is putting a higher gear ratio in your rear end, but the money spent would probably buy a couple years gas.
i was wondering if anyone knows if "granny driving" really helps? I know when i take my sweet time getting up to 45-50 the entire time it takes to get there i only get about 8 mpg, once i get to speed and hold i get about 19-20 doing 45-50. My question is though, if it takes 30 seconds to get to 45 at 8 mpgs is that really better then getting to 45 in say 10 seconds at 6mpg and holding at 45?

i think the more vacuum you have the better your gas mileage would be so slowly getting up to speed is probably better for gas mileage than stomping on it.

i've heard that before so i was thinking of buying a vacuum gauge and trying that out. I'm just curious if its better to "turtle poke" up to 45 and cruise or if its better to get to 45 a lil faster and then hold? oh and does anyone know if going from 35's to 33's would make that big a difference?

I can't remember where I read the article at but I've read that vehicle's are more fuel efficient in higher gear's then lower gear's, so given the circumstance it would be better to just get up to speed instead of ***** footing around.

And on the topic of gas mileage I've read that 55MPH and below window's down and 55MPH and higher use the A/C.

I've been using my A/C almost 100% of the time lately and have noticed that my gas needle doesn't move nearly as fast as with the window's down. But the A/C dang sure does eat up the power....

But accelerating in 10 seconds is more like 3mpg, at least in my 360

but then that would still mean for 10 sec I only got 3 mpg but for the remaining 20 sec I would be getting 20 mpg.
