The carnage. Was able to find all parts I needed from parts stores and the axle and knuckle from a salvage yard in Chesapeke.

Dang man. I did something like that when I broke my wheel bearing in my '72... however the damage wasn't NEAR as extensive! Glad to hear you got the parts you needed. Have it back on the road yet?

Yeah drove it today, needed to go get an alignment and the brakes bled. Went to the shop that was recomended to me and told them that the right rear bleeder screw might be stripped out. I tried to explain to them that they can go ahead and do the work and fix it if needed for about 5 minutes. I ended up calling them idiots as I walked out of the shop. So I gotta take it some where else tomorrow.

The shop is required by law to chat with you before doing any repairs if the price tag is going to exceed 100 bucks...... You can authorize an "up to" amount on the repair order.... what did they do to **** you off?

They did not get the fact that I was authorizing them to do the work needed. I told them about the issue and if they needed to work it out or even replace the wheel cylinder I was okay with it. They kept on telling me what might happen if it was stripped and I said to go ahead and do the the work. I get fed up with telling them to do it I just left.

It was already going to be over $100, it was 89 for the alignment and 70 for the brake bleed.

Lol it probaly would not hurt to do it. The truck has 202k miles on for the last last 70k The biggest thing I have over done to it was basic upkeep the first 100k or so I have no idea what was done other than the engine rebuild and transfer case rebuild. Still on the original Trans.

I blew a brake line in my van.... it was cold and ugly out, and my health sucks, and I just didn't wanna do it..... until I got an estimate from the shop I go to when I have no other choice...... Almost 300 bucks....... I went to the parts store, spend about 20, and did it myself....... out in the driveway..... in winter........ I hated every minute of it, but, I still had 280 dollars I did NOT have to spend.......

Paying someone else to do that sort of work can be extremely painful......

I need a warm garage.

Took it to get an allignment done today, was told that they could not do it due to play in the right hub (this was expected) outer tied rod (not expected) and intermediate shaft play (not expected) and the kicker, they claim that my new hub is bad, that there is a lot of play in it. I usually trust the shop I took it to as I know most of the mechanics there, however the guy the did the work is new and I do not know the kind of work he does. I am gunna jack everything back up and check it all and I may have to replace the bearing again, that means fighting with autozone.
