Default New motor wont fit!

Im helping my brother with his 2nd gen 4x4. He pulled motor without any issues. We are now trying to put in rebuilt 5.9(direct replacement for what was in truck). I always thought that the trans and t-case did not have to be removed.Looking for advise and tips to help out two military veterans!

What is keeping it from fitting? Is the rebuilt engine a LA type?

Can you leave mounts off until it is in position? I have done that on others before but not on a Ram.

What year did the replacement engine come out of? I don't know exactly what the differences are, I just know they are different form the Magnum engines.

LA valvecovers have 5 bolts vs magnums 10.

If it doesn't have a crank position sensor its not gonna work.

The crossmember for the trans has 1 1/2" slots for the bolts, try loosening them and pushing it all the way back, this will give you a bit of extra room up front for the input shaft/flexplate.
