Yeah I realized it was a different person but in his post he said upper hose was cold and lower was hot which is opposite of what it should be which VW pointed out and then I offered my take. Not sure exactly what their issue is either but figured it must be something if their wp was flowing backwards. Lol

I didn't think It was possible to put the belt on wrong... And also these water pumps... Did they fit on anything else that would run the other way?

I would check the belt routing first. I think you switched the water pump loop around on accident.

Yep, thats what Im thinking. If you think about how these wp work, the vanes inside are formed to pump in a specific direction but that only "helps" the water flow. The direction of flow is decided by how the belt is positioned on the pulley. If the routing is not correct then it is possible to make the wp run backwards. Now I dont know how easy/hard that would be to do but in theory it could happen.

Look how easily you could come off the power steering pump and go down to the crank pully, up around the water pump, and back to the alt. Everything would work great except the water pump.

Thanks for posting the pic. I was just sitting here trying to visialize it in my head. On my phone and not somewhere I could search for it. I knew it could prob be done pretty easily but couldnt remember the exact routing off the top of my head. You are right, would be real easy to do.

I have not fixed it. The belt it on properly. The fluid seems to be moving through the rad. I have just removed the thermostat all together and its fine.. So I may just take it to a shop and tell them to fix it.

I just recently purchased a rad. I'm going to install it tomorrow and then put the Tstat back in and i'll let you guys know.

didnt you say the radiator you already had on your truck wsa new? so you went out and bought another one?
