Cam swap or 1.7 roller rockers
it ain't just any SCT... SCT isn't, by itself, any better than SuperChips.. Having the SCT managed by Sean (HemiFever) is a different ballgame.. he knows these engines better than most, and will push the envelope a little further than some 'boxed' programmer will..
the program is only as good as the programmer.. Hemifever knows his business..

What computer are you using Wh1t3? The "what cam" question may have been the very first thing to pop out of my mouth when I signed up here. General forum and KRC dude consensus at the time was that without a B&G flash I'd never be happy with the tune on any more aggressive cams, including the various mild RT cams. I have to get through local sniffer emissions testing and wouldn't want it fouling out all the time anyways. What cams have you gotten the impression might fit in with an OBD1 setup and still not run pig rich. I think my engine is a good candidate since it has pretty low miles on it at this point. Here we go again.
SCT = Superchips Custom Tuner.
Tunes can be written on an individual per-vehicle basis. Further, the person writing the tunes can tweak and customize them for a darn near infinite set of parameters. Tunes can be written for max performance at the track, max torque for towing, max MPGs, etc. You could even write a tune to keep your kid from driving over 70mph, or a valet tune to keep them from revving over 2000RPMs and pulling a Ferris Bueller with your ride.
If you aren't going to spring for a tuner, get the rockers.

I'm afraid Wh1t3Nukle was probably referring to the SCT in his post and if there were good oem flashed or Moper performance PCM'd OBD1 cams out there we'd already know about them. Keep on hopin though....
Man love your camper how much does it weigh
I responded to the OPs question (as quoted) with respect to his vehicle information, which is exactly like mine.
Incomplete input as the above posters have not changed their cam out on one of these dodgessssss.
Get a R/T cam, as an example. There are cams out there that would fit your needs. Build off the cam for even more potential (i.e., rockers, heads, SCT,etc.). There are cams that are PCM friendly, no need to change.
Search for my thread for reference. There aren't many people here that have swapped out a cam on these engines....successfully.

Now to respond to you and 2x1972 to the best of my knowledge.
I'm using my stock PCM. I've got a superchips and set to the 91 tune for the last month or so. Myself and OP are OBDII.
OBD1, to my knowledge, you are correct that there are only 2 options: B&G flash and Mopar Performance PCM. merc2225hp is running the latter in his 1996. I don't know of anyone else on DF running either of these configurations.
So I can't really address your OBD1 as it would have never crossed my mind as again, my response was to the OPs vehicle. I would generally infer that a mopar cam would get you covered for emissions (that was my basis as well). My requirements was to also meet CA emissions AND be PCM stock friendly.
Possibly PM merc225hp on this. I would have presumed aim and drew might comment on this question, but they also are/have not been OBD1 as they are SCT ******.

Thanks man! The tag says 2750lbs. I figure probably 3500-4000 loaded plus about another 2-3k trailer weight we usually have towing behind us.
Not a problem man. I've been running thin on time lately myself. Just glad to be employed.
It's the curse of the OBD1. I think merc225hp signature may be the closest thing I've seen to real hope yet. Looks like he may have a cammed OBD1 which is something I don't think is all too common. Maybe a pm will yield the magical part number I've sought....

96 was part OBD1 and part OBD2 this is just one of the reasons I will not use an SCT tuner. The Mopar Performance PCM was designed to work with three of Mopars performances cams that were made by CraneCams for Mopar performance, The Cam that WHiteN is using is one of them NO pcm moding was or is needed to work with this cam. That said I am still using the Mopar Per PCM and all is well with the way the motor works, not fat, not lean, makes gobs of tq over 1900rpm. I believe I am just on the edge of its working limits now. If I get time today I will see what or how much hp the Mopar PCM can handle before it reaches its limits.
For my motors cam I spent some time talking with Mopar tech line and we came up with custom grinding numbers to match the rest of my motor, so it has a custom ground cam in it. I have had three different cams in my motor in it's currant config; from stock to way to wild to my currant one.
My cam choice for a OBD1 truck used as a DD/light trail rig would be the same cam as WhiteN is using. It has lots of pluses to it, Not much of a bark though.
Mopar's Total Performance package was toted back in the day as the follows.
Mopar Performance PCM
M1 intake
Mopar Cam
Mopar roller rockers
R/T Heads
and a bunch of little stuff.
