Did you pull the trans out to do the O/D unit?

Disconnect the shift linkage from the trans, and see if the lever on the column will move, if it does, try the lever on the trans..... I suspect you don't have the park linkage inside the trans hooked up properly.

Starting I think is a separate issue.

It's internal to the trans, and I think, but, not 100% sure, that it extends into the O/D unit....... Might wanna look in the manual at how it is supposed to work, and take it from there.

it dont extend into od unit. only thing that went into od unit was the shaft and the pipe that puts fluid back there. maybe its time for a chevy.. good god what has this world come to

Check and see if the park linkage is jammed up in the trans. Disconnect the shift lever, and see if you can move the lever on the trans. (block the wheels first.....) If the trans shifts ok, check the column shifter. God only knows what happened during the swap.
