I honestly do not understand how some of you guys have such troubles with the thermostat. It's not rocket surgery -- Install the intake and allow the sealant to dry. Add coolant to the intake through the thermostat hole until topped off after which the thermostat and its housing are installed. Install the upper radiator hose, top off the radiator, and proceed.

I never knew to put coolant into the thermostat hole before installing the thermostat. Makes sense I suppose, after I think about it

The stat acted like it opened but then the temp started to creep back up again, I guess it just hasn't got all the air out yet?

Yep. These trucks can be fun to get all the air out... some folks don't have problems, others... well..... yeah....

Got all the air out, it needed a little more coolant to help it.

Now the oil pressure goes out sometimes, especially when going up a hill, but it comes back immediately so I expect there's still a tiny bit of coolant hiding in my oil system somewhere

Is the oil level correct? Might wanna put a mechanical gauge on it.... the pressure sensors aren't the best....

The oil level is correct. What all for into replacing it with a mechanical guage?

There wasn't any pecking when the pressure went down, so there actually was pressure

When my manifold gaskets blew the first time a lot of the coolant got into the oil system, I changed it three times an got 99% of it out I think, it runs good as far as I can tell. Haven't really "tested" I out too hard yet

I went to advance auto and picked up a 20 dollar mechanical oil pressure gauge, and just screwed it in, in place of the sender for the in-dash gauge, just to see what was REALLY happening..... (and of course, it told me things I didn't wanna know.....) I just set the gauge where I could see it while driving. I didn't really "install" it in a permanent sense.

But where do you screw it in?
