Yeah it's a zap you're not soon to forget. It had been a few long years since the last time I car got me, so I guess it had to remind me not to pull off a wire while running.

You aren't the only one........

I was driving to cleveland from home one day... and my 'bird was runnin' like crap. I pulled into a farmers driveway, popped the hood, and I could HEAR the plug wires arcing...... but, instead of shutting off the engine, and THEN shuffling them around, I just reached in and started moving wires...... I was quickly reminded why that is a BAD idea.... as I was doing the 1000RPM boogie....... I could hear the farmer laughing his *** off as I closed the hood, and got back in the car....

Ouch, that doesn't sound like a fun time for you. I bet the farmer enjoyed the show though. Lol

before you go wasting too much time time trying to unplug injectors you should maybe check the spark plugs. if one cylinder is getting fuel but not firing or is firing but not getting fuel your plugs should tell you. could also have a bad plug. my 81 seemed to some how have 3 spark plugs mysteriously die not too long after i first got it running in who knows how long.

I did the same thing when I went home on leave and drove my '72. It woke me right up!

I'm picking up 10 new plugs, and a wireset on Monday to put on it. I'm sure it could use a tune up even it that isn't my actual issue. Figure i'll investigate the plugs as they come out to get replaced.

well strangest thing happened today, I went out and started it up before doing the tune up. And still only half the motor was firing properly. But this time it was the opposite half as before (passenger side), driver side would only fire once every few seconds at random. So i did the tune up, and she's firing on all 10 cylinders now, at least by the sounds of it. Idles alot better, revs up quicker and smoother, and returns to idle without stumbling or stalling which is what it kept doing before.

But while letting it run a few minutes I found that the gas line that runs between the tank and the frame started leaking. So now I'm wondering what I can do to fix this?
