alright um what exactly is the PCV valve for i know positive crank case ventilation but what supposed to come through just air? And when i was cleaning intake i noticed that there was a serious oil stain on the passenger side where the nipples are on the inside of the intake. And if my PCV valve is new and functioning but oil is still coming through could there be another problem?

PCV evacuates blowby from the cylinders from the crank case, and draws a slight vacuum on the crank case, to aid in ring sealing. (don't ask me how that actually works....) Keeps the nasty stuff that gets past the rings from contaminating the oil quite so badly. Also evacuates any gases that get boiled out of the oil when the engine is at operating temp. (the oil gets pretty friggin warm..... so, things like moisture, get boiled out.)

Ok so the contaminated moisture/oil/gases goes into my intake from the PCV valve. That doesn't seem like a smart idea and i could tell because of my extremely oily intake.

The 'oily' is from a PCV valve with too high of a flow rate, so, it sucks oil right out of the valve cover as well. Personally though, I would tend to agree with you.... if you don't want it in your oil, why would you want to run it thru the cylinders again? Does seem kinda strange, but hey, that's what the engineers decided to do with it...... of course, I would bet real money that the government had something to do with it, and at least part of the reason PCV systems were implemented was so that stuff wasn't simply vented to atmosphere......

^ it doesn't hurt it, but its not a clean, sterile process. pcv is an emissions reduction. rather than vent the crankcase into the air, it sucks them into the intake and burns them. not a bad idea, and the amount of water vapor is insignificant. some oil can collect into the bottom of the intake but it still doesn't hurt anything.

edit - scooped again by hey.

Alright so it makes more sense to me hahaha i assume that the one i buy from advanced auto parts has a reasonable flow rate and wont cover my fresh intake in oil?

No promises there..... that's why I suggest ONLY getting them from the dealer, you KNOW that one is about as right as they are gonna get.

use the same intake bolts theres no high pressure tourque on those bolts not to reuse them

I thought the intake bolts are all "torque to yield"????..If so torquing it to the correct figure actually causes the bolt to permanently stretch a small amount, but maximizes sealing force. This type of bolt must never be re-used from what I have learned..

about the PCV, just don't be the guy that blocks off the PCV system. YOu will have engine oil blowing out of your dipstick. You need a breather at least.

And don;t look at my sig pic for the correct way. I swapped the breathers to the other sides and one breather I plugged up with RTV. It acts as my oil cap!
