how to remove panel?on tailgate

Default how to remove panel?on tailgate

Hey there fellas!On my 95 theres a gray I guess you would call trim panel on the bottom half of my tailgate,Im gonna paint my rig before long&want to remove this&then patch whatever holes are there from mounting.Any idea how I get this thing off?Thanks!

Off your not putting it back on then just rip it off.

Im shooting 12 coats on my truck just ripping sounds like a good way to create more bw.

go to the junkyard and pull one off for practice. itll be for free too.

IIRC, there are no holes. It's just held on with tape.

Mine had holes for like the dually lights on the tailgate

Just grab and pull, your not gonna hurt the tailgate.

As stated it's held on by double sided tape. Take a thin putty knife and heat the end of the putty knife with a propane torch. Then gently pry the panel away as you slide the knife in between the panel and the tailgate. Repeat this process til it is off. Then take an eraser wheel on a drill and take the tape off of the truck. Don't stay to long in one spot or spin the drill to fast or you'll burn though the paint.

I could be wrong, but I don't think a dually came from the factory with lites in or on the tailgate.

He is shaving the tailgate smooth and then paintIng it so I doubt he needs to be that gentle. I'm telling you just grab it and pull it off. Pour some alcohol on it if you need to to loosen the tape.
