Don't know about you, but even if I could AFFORD it, these are issues I would rather not have to deal with.

But an air horn....on a truck with cracked heads...priceless!
Well i'm going on 1-2 days a week of work so yeah. But i would like to do it but i cannot afford it at the moment. If i did do it myself, i wouldn't want to mess anything up which is easy for me. Also, my truck is fine right now and there are no signs of anything leaking oil so i don't have to worry with anything at the moment. Sometime i'll do it, but at the moment i can't due to work not giving me enough hours.

You can't see the oil leaking in the place we are talking about.

You have a 97, so. Get a Haynes manual and also download the free service manual from the FAQ/DIY section. Read about the procedure to see if you are comfortable and have the tools to do so.

And as previously stated, it's going to cost a lot more if you don't address the common problems first. At least check.

Yeah, i'll check on that when i get time then. How much is one of those hughes kits off ebay? How difficult is the whole procedure to do?

I'm still unsure of my train horn decision...

EBay plate is 50 bucks. Comes with new bolts for the pan. Still need gaskets, (30 bucks or so,) and intake bolts. (supposedly, less than 20 at the dealer....) Oil change and a couple gallons of coolant wouldn't hurt either.

Takes anywhere from a couple hours, to a day or two, depending on how lucky you are with broken fasteners. They can set ya back a bit.

Thanks man. Seems like this would be a pretty good thing to do, knowing that it will increase the life of my ram. Would it help with anything else and is there only 1 gasket i need or do i need multiple ones?

Need the gasket for the belly pan, and a gasket set for the intake. (total of five gaskets... one for each side, front, back, and belly.) Intake gaskets will come as a set, belly pan is not included in that set. (I don't think....) Get GOOD quality gaskets. (fel-pro, or better) You don't wanna have to do it again.

As for benefits..... more power, smoother running, doesn't eat cats, or O2's as quickly.... possibly better fuel economy, and lower oil consumption.

Alright sounds good. I'll look into this since it is all under 100 bucks.

I put the link up because of the video in it with his train horns... Did you watch it? His horn setup is badass.
