Need Some Help With Deciding On A Train/Truck Horn
Other problems AFTER the plenum fix? - Plenum fix is not that difficult. Most common problem is an intake bolt or two breakling.
Won't be able to afford truck not running? - Keep in mind that blown plenum not only costs more to operate due to blowing oil, but also causes damage to cat (couple hunder bucks?) and can lead to cracked head. Don't know about you, but even if I could AFFORD it, these are issues I would rather not have to deal with.
But an air horn....on a truck with cracked heads...priceless!

You can't see the oil leaking in the place we are talking about.
You have a 97, so. Get a Haynes manual and also download the free service manual from the FAQ/DIY section. Read about the procedure to see if you are comfortable and have the tools to do so.
And as previously stated, it's going to cost a lot more if you don't address the common problems first. At least check.

Yeah, i'll check on that when i get time then. How much is one of those hughes kits off ebay? How difficult is the whole procedure to do?
I'm still unsure of my train horn decision...

EBay plate is 50 bucks. Comes with new bolts for the pan. Still need gaskets, (30 bucks or so,) and intake bolts. (supposedly, less than 20 at the dealer....) Oil change and a couple gallons of coolant wouldn't hurt either.
Takes anywhere from a couple hours, to a day or two, depending on how lucky you are with broken fasteners. They can set ya back a bit.

Need the gasket for the belly pan, and a gasket set for the intake. (total of five gaskets... one for each side, front, back, and belly.) Intake gaskets will come as a set, belly pan is not included in that set. (I don't think....) Get GOOD quality gaskets. (fel-pro, or better) You don't wanna have to do it again.
As for benefits..... more power, smoother running, doesn't eat cats, or O2's as quickly.... possibly better fuel economy, and lower oil consumption.

Look into this thread, and don't forget the manuals. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html
I put the link up because of the video in it with his train horns... Did you watch it? His horn setup is badass.
