Default Need Some Help With Deciding On A Train/Truck Horn

Alright, well i searched some threads on here about train horns and i was wandering some things. I really want that Hornblasters horn for 480 dollars but that is a good bit for a horn. If i had the money i would get it, but i don't at the moment. Is there a horn that is similar to this one but cheaper? I searched alot and heard some sound clips on some and alot of them have a higher pitch train horn. I like that low-sounding kind like hornblasters has.

Is there something similar to it?

And would a semi horn be the same way on installing? I was going to look in the junkyard for some but i don't know nothing about truck horns and their installation.

-Any help/recommendations/opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you want an air horn, or do you want a LOUD air horn?

If you want loud... go with the Shockers. I have the Shocker XLs... all of the videos and sound clips I have ever watch do not come close to doing these things justice. They are loud... so loud that I won't honk if my windows are down.

A semi horn will be an air horn... but not nearly as loud. I think they are about 114dB or so... the Shockers are 148.

I agree... it is kind of pricey, but it was a little less painful for me since I already had a compressor installed:

I think the money would be better spent deciding whether to get an ebay plenum fix or a Hughes. But that's just me.

I have to agree with Zman, there is soooo much I want to do to my rig but I know there is a ton of stuff that needs to be addressed first, plenum, front end, fuel pump ect. ect but if you wanna do it on the cheap

the guy quotes about $20 a horn, so an entire build will put you around 200 for everything.

I want a pretty loud one haha. And yeah, i really want them Shocker XLs, but i was trying to find a cheaper alternative that sounded nearly exactly the same. If i can't find any of train horn setup that sounds similar, i'm just going to save for the shockers. I looked up alot of their youtube videos about them scaring people and their pretty funny.

Yeah, i wanted to do that plenum fix but i seen others problems in the forums after they did it and i wouldn't be able to afford my truck if i messed something up causing it not to run. And i'm not too mechanically inclined with that kind of work, unfortunately.

How was prom?
Looks nice man! I might do that later on in summer if i ever have some extra time on my hands. And we haven't went to our prom yet because it is May 12th, but i got that spectre cai on and got some nice stainless steel exhaust tips. All i got to do is clean the inside and outside of it now to make it look real nice.

Other problems AFTER the plenum fix? - Plenum fix is not that difficult. Most common problem is an intake bolt or two breakling.

Won't be able to afford truck not running? - Keep in mind that blown plenum not only costs more to operate due to blowing oil, but also causes damage to cat (couple hunder bucks?) and can lead to cracked head. Don't know about you, but even if I could AFFORD it, these are issues I would rather not have to deal with.

But an air horn....on a truck with cracked heads...priceless!
