Timing Chain Compatability
Hi,
I am shopping around for a double roller timing chain/set. I have read that some people have purchased a comp cam double roller. When I go to Comp Cams website I see: Magnum Timing Sets; Chrysler 273-360, '56-88 Part Number 2103. Given the years listed 56-88 it doesn't look the it is applicable to a 2nd gen. I contacted Comp Cams and they did not know if it would fit a 1999 Dodge Ram 5.2l.
1) Will this fit a 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2l?
2) Timing Set wise, does anybody know which years are compatable? Are all 2nd Gens the same (1994-2001)?

All the magnum motors are mechanically, pretty much the same. (93 and up) You should be able to find a double roller set for your year, I am not sure if anything changed there from the LA style, to the magnums...... I got an SA Gear (or some such) from my local advance auto for under 50 bucks. .25 inch rollers, steel gears. Not a bad piece. Been in for better than a year now, and no troubles.
I got mine here: http://mopartsracing.com/parts/a.html
Good service, fast shipping, and they CAN answer your questions!

http://mopartsracing.com/parts/a.html gives you a "Mopar Performance" sticker also....makes it run faster! (..lol..)
the cloyes TRUE double roller timing set is indeed a nice piece. it can free "up to 10 hp" kind of a broad statment though. thats not the point but the durability is and the more so "friction free" design compared to the stocker. wanna get rid of friction, get an underdrive pulley, e fan set up, HS 1.7 rr's or 1.6 adjustable ones, and the double roller timing set lol.
