Default running a little hot

95 1500 318 217k miles. it runs at 205 210 on the factory gauge on the highway with a load on it or when it sits idling for awhile. New radiator cap(16lb), fan clutch replaced about 3000 miles ago. The radiator is cold by the inlet hose at operating temp. i would think it should be hot seeing that is where the water from engine comes in. I was going to pull the t-stat and flush the radiator but I'm really leaning toward a partial plug in the rad since it is both at highway speeds and idling. Any thought s would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Flushing, changing the stat, and fresh coolant would be a good place to start.

Hopefully your WP doesn't look like this one.

That's the new style 'low power consumption' water pump.

Good for 10HP I'd say. Kind of like installing an electric fan.

In 1964 I had a new Barracuda with the 273 that started running hot. Come to find out that year had a plastic impeller and mine had disintegrated. The replacement didn't have a plastic one.
