Tighting band?
I have a dodge ram 1500 sport and Im not getting hardly any power to the back wheels. I do have a 4" Sky Jacker lift on it and 37" tires on it, I know that will take some but not what im getting now. A bud of mine told me about two Tension bolts one on the side of the transmission and one inside the pan if I tighten these two bolts down will it help with any power? Cause motor is running fine it is pushing the power out so its got to be between the transmission and the rear end. Help me out here please
what gear ratio? did you re-gear it when you put a lift and bigger tires on?
you can always do a band adjustment but DO NOT just go underneith the truck and start tightening things. Since this is your first post, im guessing you dont have the Factory Servive manual downloaded. if not you can go under the DIY/FAQ section of the 2nd gen forum and download it there. That will tell what to adjust and how to adjust it.

Thanks guys and I did have 4.88 gears on it but I went to Pismo beach dunes and my old lady burnt it out playing in the sand. Even when I did have it it didn't have hardly any power to it any other ideals what it might be im open to ideals
Tightening the bands in the trans will NOT give you more power. Either the bands hold the drum or they do not. Band adjustment only effects when the clamp and if they clamp tight enough. If they do not clamp tight enough, it is not a loss of power getting to the wheels, it will be transmission slipping.
+1 on downloading the service manual - and read through it...
And +1 more on the gears. Fatory diff was not designed for the load of 37" tires.

I WILL tell you this much... putting 4.56 gears or for your tire size 4.88's WILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL give you your power back as long as your engine and trans are in good shape. If someone installed those gears like you said they lied, I can tell you from personal experience. I am a sand 4x4er and there is no way you can do it with those 3.55 gears that come factory and 33+ size tires. Adjusting the bands does not give you "power". They are not power bands.
